Introduction to on site chair massage On site acupressure massage is a 20 minute acupressure sequense given to clients in a specially designed chair, either in the therapy room or workplace. It is totally non invasive and involves no removal of clothes or use of oils. It is, therefore, ideal for those who have never received a massage or have personal privacy issues. The fact that the session lasts only 20 minutes means that many people have time to receive a massage on their lunch hour from work. Based traditionally on traditional massage techniques, on site acupressure massage was brought to the UK in 1989 from the USA where it had been in several years. This style of massage is not new however and had been practiced in Japan for hundreds of years. Anma as it is known there means 'press and rub' and is a massage style that has been passed down through the generations from family to family and from healer to healer.Anma focuses on improving the flow of energy throughout the body and acts additionally on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems through its consideration of over acupressure points distributed throughout the body. Other areas known as trigger points that are also considered to aid energy fllow are worked on. Anma is a carefully considered technique which employs an ancient and highly respected knowledge of the body's systems in order to deliver a massage which addresses the body holistically as opposed to focusing on individual areas of pain or discomfort. |
